Max Richter's Voices (the Voiceless Mix) is an all time favourite of mine - thx for the 4 Seasons tip.

Just two afterthoughts on your article: The musical genre of Hip Hop is based in ripping pieces of music out of context.

And in cinema you can compare shot composition over genres and decades and you could be thrown down the rabbit hole of ownership over ideas once again.

thank. I know there is a lot remixing and referencing in music, some genres more than others. I always wonder how much of it one gets away with until they asked you to pay royalties.

cinema is interesting too. if you take shot composition but recreate it in a different context, is that inspiration? hommage? plus there is a long history of remakes. most of which are totally unnecessary if you ask me.

a lot of people have been saying that we're at the point where nothing is original anymore because everything has been done before. which the rare exception of course. and I do believe this to be more or less true. still a fascinating topic.

I do like to possible emotional, if true, approach of reclaiming something because you lost it somehow.

Thank you. As a teacher of young children for many years, I have enjoyed watching children do this as they make sense of the world around them, and it’s very rewarding. As adults we often become too afraid and reluctant to change things we perceive as “already finished” and lack the confidence to try something new.

I agree. Kids overthink less than us. And don't have the same notion of who owns what or who is allowed to do what. There is freedom in there.
