HELLO,
and welcome to my latest studio newsletter. May is shaping up to be a busy month, and I couldn’t be more excited about it.
[This newsletter can and will be updated if need be and remains accessible via my website or Substack page. So even if you delete it from your inbox, you can always come back later to have another look.]
First, I wanted to share a few - make that a lot of - photos from a collage workshop I hosted at Espace Canopy last month, together with the lovely Isabelle Milkoff. It’s rare to have a real photographer present – thank you Tina Teyssèdre - and people usually forget to take pictures because they’re too busy just being there. Which is a good thing. Being present is good. And yet… having something to remember things by is good too.

Second, and I’m really excited about that one: my second solo exhibition of they year, this time at Les Passantes, a small and very cool concept store / café here in Paris. If you’re in the city, please come and say hello during the vernissage on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 between 6:30 p.m. and, well, until drinks run out. My collages will remain on display until June 10, 2023. So if you can’t make it to the vernissage but want to meet up later on, I will be (or rather I can be) at the store every Saturday. Just get in touch. I’d be happy to meet for a coffee!
À CONTRESENS - solo exhibition
May 10 - June 10, 2023
Vernissage Wednesday, May 10th, 6:30 p.m. until late
Les Passantes, 35 rue Boursault, 75017 Paris [Métro Rome]
Third, good things come to those who wait (and work really hard in the meantime): the first ever Paris Collage Collective exhibition – Hommage à Rachid Taha – in collaboration with and on show at the Centre Anim’ Rachid Taha will run from May 9 to June 3, 2023. This project took so long to come together – I think the Open Call for it started in October 2022 – that I still hesitate to announce it publicly for fear of jinxing it. I will breath more easily once everything is framed and up on the walls: 35 artists from all around the world!
The vernissage or rather official inauguration or renaming ceremony – the centre changed its name from La Chapelle to Rachid Taha during the height of the Covid pandemic, which only explains part of the delay – will be on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
That’s only one day after my own exhibition opens. As I said, a busy month…
Hommage à Rachid Taha – group exhibition

Vernissage Thursday, May 11th, 6 :30pm

And last but not least, I’m very pleased to have one of my collages in a small group show at the Maude Kerns Art Center in Eugene, Oregon. My first exhibition participation in the US. Yes! Many thanks to the many people everywhere who work hard to give collage a broader platform.
